Stores that I love......

I love Marshalls, HomeGoods, TJ Maxx, Ross and Tuesday Morning. I would venture to say that 90% of my shoes come from one of these establishments ( I have over 150 pairs of shoes but that is another post for another day).

I just discovered Tuesday Morning last year. Their motto is "Seek the Unique". They have brand name items that have been overproduced and overbought and the savings are passed on the customer. My kind of store. There is store next door to my son's swim school. After class last spring, I decided to stop by on a whim. Turns out, Tuesday Morning was exiting the shoe business and marked down the entire shoe section to $10.00! Shoes from labels such as Calvin Klein, Nine West, Vince Camuto, Bagdley-Freaking-Mischa. Upon stumbling this, I bought 4 pairs. The best part, most of the shoes were in a size 10.5, which is my new shoe size post pregnancy and a difficult size to shop for. A couple of weeks later something incredible happened.......they marked the shoes down to $5.00. I bought sandals, cowboy boots, pumps, boots....name a type of shoe and I probably bought it. All the shoes were name brand and in my size. I thought I died and went to shoe heaven. All told, I purchased 11 pairs of shoes for less than $100!

Cowboy boots...I live in Texas after all.

Since the birth of my daughter, I have discovered the Tuesday Morning has an impressive baby selection. Many of the items appear to be overflow from baby boutiques. I have scored Egyptian Cotton baby blanket for $19.99 (regular price $100.00), terry cloth hooded towels (typically $40 to $50 at baby boutiques for $12), Baby sock and Headbands sets (typically $20 at baby boutiques for $6.00), cotton baby bibs (regular price $20 for $6.99). I have also discovered they have a unique and expansive toy section. I have purchased toys for the last two birthdays parties my son has attended from there.

If you are in need of a great gift, Tuesday Morning is a great. I signed up for their mailer so now I know about upcoming sales up to 3 days before the general public. Starting tomorrow, they will offer a Kitchen Aid Food Processor (regularly $249 for $99). Since I am planning to make my daughter's baby food, this is a great score. I will be in the store as soon as it opens!

All about me....and stuff

For years my friends and family have encouraged me to start a blog as a place to capture all of the stuff that I love.....baby stuff, home decor stuff, school stuff, work stuff etc.... But life just kept getting in the way. I set this blog up in April of 2010!!! It's taken almost 4 years to put pen to paper (or fingers to keyboard in this case). In four years, I have had two children, moved from Florida to Texas, left the company that I had been with over 13 years...you know typical life stuff.  Life is still plenty busy, I just had a little girl seven weeks ago and I actually go back to work in a few days.

But I had a conversation with one of my best friends, Jennifer, the other day about starting the blog. She reminded me that I set this blog up years ago, I had totally forgotten. Jenn and I have been friends for close to twenty years. We attended high school and college together and pledged together (OO-oop). So we are as close as close can be. She had been struggling with a gift idea for the baby. Before I could give my standard answer of Diapers. She said NO DIAPERS. So she was speaking another new mom friend of hers asking for ideas. The mom suggested that she give me a growth chart. Well guess who gave Jennifer that idea.....yep, yours truly.

So I will give this blog thing a try. If for nothing else than to house all of the ideas for baby stuff that I love.

Another note on the name of the blog, it's a play on my favorite album of time. Songs in the Key of Life by the amazing Stevie Wonder. The album was released one year, one month and one day before I was born. It is the ultimate album, with songs like Sir Dike! Knocks me off my feet!! As!!! it's amazing. Do yourself a favor and hit up itunes if you have not had the pleasure. In the meanwhile, I will try to come up with a good blog post.
